Buying guide

Paint protection film cost

PPF is quoted per job, not per product, so two cars rarely get the same number. Here is exactly what goes into the price — coverage, film grade, vehicle shape and labour — so you can compare quotes properly.

Coverage packages and what they use

Partial front

Approx. 2–3 m² of film

Front bumper, partial hood and fenders, mirrors

Lowest entry price. Leaves a visible film edge on the hood.

Full front

Approx. 5–7 m² of film

Full hood, full fenders, bumper, mirrors, headlights

The most common package — covers the panels that take stone chips.

Track / high-impact pack

Approx. 8–10 m² of film

Full front plus rocker panels, A-pillars, roof edge, door cups

Adds the zones hit by road debris at speed.

Full body

Approx. 16–22 m² of film

Every painted panel

Highest material and labour cost; also the only fully seamless look.

Film quantities are typical ranges for passenger cars. Final pricing is set by the installing studio in your market — LuxArmor supplies the film to dealers and detailing studios.

What actually drives the price

Coverage area

Film is priced per square metre or per roll. A full-body job uses roughly three to four times the material of a full front, and that ratio carries straight into the quote.

Film grade

Entry TPH films cost less but yellow faster and do not self-heal. Premium TPU like LuxArmor PPF is 205–215 micron, self-healing and warrantied for 10 years — a higher material cost with a much longer service life.

Finish

Gloss clear PPF is the baseline. Matte, satin and the 350+ shades of Colored PPF cost more per metre because they replace both protection and a colour change or wrap.

Vehicle complexity

Deep bumper vents, wide carbon spoilers, quarter panels with sharp creases and large single-piece hoods all add hours. Two cars with identical coverage can differ significantly in labour.

Installation method

Plotter-cut patterns are faster and more repeatable. Bulk-cut, wrapped-edge installs take longer, hide every edge and cost more.

Prep work

Paint correction, decontamination and partial disassembly before install are usually billed separately. Film must go onto flawless paint — defects underneath are locked in.

Studio and region

Labour rates, certification level and local market drive quotes more than the film itself in many regions. Always compare like-for-like coverage.

Where the money comes back

10-year warranty

Every LuxArmor film line is backed for a decade, so the cost is spread across the life of the car rather than a single season.

Resale value

Original, chip-free paint is worth more at resale than a repainted panel — and a respray of one panel often approaches the cost of a full front install.

Fewer corrections

Self-healing 99% means light swirls disappear with heat, so you skip repeated paint correction over the years.

Easier maintenance

The hydrophobic top coat sheds water, dirt and chemicals, cutting wash time and detailing spend.

Common questions about PPF pricing

Is paint protection film cheaper than a respray?

A single repainted panel is often comparable to a full-front PPF package, and a respray permanently ends the car's original paint status. PPF is generally the cheaper long-term option for a car that is kept.

Does thicker film cost more?

Yes. LuxArmor PPF runs 205–215 micron TPU, thicker than budget films, which raises material cost but also impact absorption and self-healing performance.

Does Colored PPF cost more than a vinyl wrap?

Colored PPF is priced above vinyl because it protects the paint as well as changing the colour — one job instead of two, with the same 10-year warranty.

Why do quotes differ so much between studios?

Different film grades, different coverage definitions of the same package name, and different labour rates. Ask for the film brand, thickness, warranty and exact panel list before comparing prices.
